Managing Your Online Account:Requesting Items in Melcat
With your online account you may place holds in the Lakenet Catalog (Lakeland libraries), request books in the Melcat Catalog (statewide), renew items, access your reading history, and pay overdue fees online.
Melcat, the statewide catalog for Michigan, gives you access to millions of books throughout the state. Delivery of items usually takes 1-2 weeks but may take longer depending on lending library's location.
Step 1: Check the Online Catalog for the book you wish to request. If the item is available in the Lakenet (Lakeland Library Cooperative) catalog, please follow the instructions for placing a hold in the Online Catalog. If the book is unavailable in the Lakenet catalog, click on the Melcat logo to begin your Melcat search.

Step 2: Search for the item you wish to request in the Melcat catalog.

Step 3: When you find the book you wish to request, click on "Get this for me".

Step 4: From the list of libraries provided, select the Allendale Township Library and click on "Submit Above Information".

Step 5: Enter your name (as it appears in your library account), library card barcode, and PIN #. Click on "Submit". Note: Your PIN # is typically the last 4 digits of your phone number. If that does not work, please contact the library for assistance.

Step 6: You should receive a message notifying you that your hold was successful. If Melcat was unable to complete your request, it may be due to problems with your library card; please contact the library for assistance.
